About the Roger Pepper Adventure Camps

The mission of the Roger Pepper Adventure Camps, a program of the Adaptive Sports Center, is to promote and provide outdoor recreation to teenagers with severe burns. The activities offered in these summer and winter camps teach young burn survivors new life skills, build self-confidence, and empower them to be more comfortable with their physical and emotional scars. Our next Roger Pepper Camp dates are June 1-7, 2013. If you would like more information, please contact Brynn O'Connell, Groups & Logistics Coordinator, at 970-349-5075 ext. 116 or brynn@adaptivesports.org.

In the Words of Michael, Roger Pepper Camp Participant

I am a participant in the winter and summer Roger Pepper camps for burn survivors. I love to attend these camps because they are so fun and challenging. The great times I have while I’m there and the awesome people I meet have changed me forever.

At the Roger Pepper camp I experience things I never imagined myself doing. One example is ice climbing. It looked very easy, but it turned out to be one of the hardest and most challenging things I’ve done so far in my life. I enjoy pushing myself to the limit and getting above what I think is my goal. These camps have taught me to challenge myself and do the best I can in everything. I always look forward to coming to the beautiful state of Colorado and very much appreciate these opportunities. These camps are just like a family to me. I will never forget them or all the important lessons I have learned.

In the Words of Tabitha, Roger Pepper Participant

As a burn survivor and 6-year participant in the camp, I know from experience how very life changing it is. I was able to see the Colorado mountains, learn how to ski and accomplish things that I thought would never be possible. The camp changed my life forever. Before I went to Colorado I was scared to do anything that involved the word ‘adventure,’ but now I love adventure. I have gained so much confidence in myself and now I feel like anything is possible. The people at the ASC helped me and other burn survivors to deal with everything. They are amazing people who just want to help others. I am so grateful that Allison Massari founded this camp for burn survivors like herself.

Roger Pepper Camp Founder

In 1999, Allison Massari established the Roger Pepper Adventure Camps after surviving a terrible automobile accident. She formed the camp through the ASC and named the camp after Roger Pepper, a selfless onlooker who pulled her from a fiery wreckage and saved her life.

Allison is an inspirational speaker and fine artist who lives in Marin, California. For more information about Allison, visit her website, www.allisonmassari.com.
