The Adaptive Sports Center congratulates you on your recent property purchase in the beautiful Gunnison Valley! We'd like to take this opportunity to share a little about our organization and invite you to get involved. Our Impact As part of the Crested Butte community since 1987, the Adaptive Sports Center provides summer and winter outdoor adventures to people with disabilities and their friends and families. We serve over 1,000 people and provide nearly 6,000 activities annually to participants from around the nation and overseas. Our programs are proven to empower our participants in their daily lives and have a positive, enduring impact on self-efficacy, health, independence, and overall well-being. Below is a video on the Kiltz family's experience. Visit our site to watch videos sharing other participants' experiences. Our Facility When the Adaptive Sports Center began to pursue a permanent home for our world-class therapeutic recreation program, we envisioned a facility that would be for everyone: participants, staff, volunteers, and the community. In July of 2019, that vision became a reality, and the new Kelsey Wright Building opened its doors. The building is named in loving memory of Kelsey Wright, one of our first and longest attending participants. Kelsey broke a lot of stereotypes about people with disabilities. She loved to show the world that her disability didn’t define her. The Kelsey Wright Building embodies Kelsey’s spirit of perseverance and courage, and will help people reach their full potential for decades to come. AN INVITE TO VISIT We welcome you to contact our Executive Director, Chris Hensley, at 970-349-2296 X113 to schedule a time to show you our facility and talk about how to get involved in our organization.
