January 5-11 2025 | APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED INTEREST FORM Twice a year, we welcome a group of up to 12 teen burn survivors to the Adaptive Sports Center. These camps offer a welcoming environment for teens to connect with others who have similar experiences. For the week, they stay in our deluxe lodging, enjoying shared living areas and kitchen that provide ample time to get to know each other and independently make meals together. In the winter, days are filled with skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. In the summer, they will enjoy paddleboarding, climbing, rafting, hiking, and mountain biking. Whether campers are just learning a new sport or have advanced skills, they will receive expert guidance from highly-trained instructors. In their downtime, they can relax at the lodge, enjoy great meals, explore the historic town of Crested Butte, participate in team building exercises, and art projects. The friendships and memories formed during their time at camp will last long after the last ski run or paddle stroke on the lake. The Adaptive Sports Center helps the campers set and achieve goals, on and off the slopes, leaving them encouraged and energized. Positively challenged and supported. Exhilarated and transformed. Camp Overview: Winter Activities: Campers will have the chance to engage in skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing, and indoor climbing with expert instruction available for all skill levels. She formed the camp through the Adaptive Sports Center and named it after Roger Pepper, a selfless onlooker who pulled her from the fiery wreckage and saved her life. The mission of the Roger Pepper Adventure Camps is to promote and provide outdoor recreation to teenagers with severe burns. The activities offered in these summer and winter camps teach young burn survivors new life skills, build self-confidence, and empower them to be more comfortable with their physical and emotional scars.
