THE KELSEY WRIGHT BUILDING The Adaptive Sports Center has purchased the Outpost Building in the ski resort base area, and intends to demolish the aging structure, and build a new, state-of-the-art facility. The new building will double the square footage we currently have to run programs and house participants, and is ideally situated for winter offerings with ski-in, ski-out access. Key elements of the facility include: Participant assessment space Equipment modification and fit-up area Physical therapy and exercise room Adaptive climbing wall One floor dedicated to client housing Industrial kitchen for food service Participant resource library Administration workstations and offices Meeting area and classroom Basement for locker rentals $13.5 million is needed to improve and expand our services, while also securing our organizational sustainability over the long term. BETTER EXPERIENCE The building will be purposely built to better serve the needs of our participants. Accessible design and architectural elements will lead to increased efficiency. The facility will enable us to house participants under the same roof as the Adaptive Sports Center’s offices – rather than have them travel from separate locations in town and on the mountain. The lodging piece provides for more interaction between clients and staff, builds a sense of team and will ultimately result in more time spent in the field. Additionally, clients will be able to enjoy more social experiences and meaningful interaction with peers in similar situations. IMPACT MORE PEOPLE A new facility will improve the participant experience and meet increased demand for our services. We plan to manage our growth carefully and deliberately to ensure that we continue to offer individualized programs with a highly personal touch. Based on current growth patterns, projected activity totals are expected to surpass 10,000 annually by 2030. ORGANIZATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY Over the long-term, building ownership will translate into lower overhead for the Adaptive Sports Center. Approximately $185,000 of our current budget is spent leasing space for programs, offices and client housing. With a new facility that is owned, not leased, we estimate a savings of at least $85,000 per year. Additionally, we will be in control of our own destiny and not vulnerable to rent increases or changes in ownership. The Kelsey Wright Building Campaign is the Adaptive Sports Center’s most important campaign in our 30-year history. With your support, we can improve the lives of thousands of individuals for decades to come. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution. Our facility is truly for everyone: participants, staff, volunteers, the community and you. WATCH LIVE VIDEO OF CONSTRUCTION HERE
