The Adaptive Sports Center offers college students and/or recent graduates the opportunity to gain practical work experience through our summer or winter internships. As an intern you will get hands on experience helping individuals with disabilities explore the outdoors in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The ASC offers internships for students studying Recreation, Community-Based Therapeutic Recreation, Outdoor Education, Recreation for Special Populations, Program Administration & Management, Psychology, Sociology, Physical Education, Business, Journalism, Marketing and Communications, Development/ Fundraising, Nonprofit Management and other related fields. We offer a variety of internships, including programming/field, marketing, and development. The deadline to apply for internships varies. See internship descriptions for details. Compensation While these are unpaid internships, interns receive compensation in multiple different ways: Accommodation Intern housing is provided by the Adaptive Sports Center. All interns will live together in the Adaptive Building located in the town of Crested Butte. The ASC will dictate the terms of the lease. Intern housing is valued at $725/month with utilities included. Laundry is available on site. Interns will be asked to provide the ASC with a refundable security deposit of $600 each. The deposit check is held through the end of the season and will only be deposited if charges are incurred. Monthly Stipend A $400/month stipend is provided to all interns. Ski Pass and Locker (Winter interns only) Winter interns are provided with a season ski pass, valued at more than $600. Requirements Interns are required to perform their internship in its entirety. A clear driving record with no violations in the last three years is a must. Interns working in the field need to have a current CPR/First Aid Certification.
