Favorite Quote: Benedicto: May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets towers into a dark primeval forest where tigers belch and monkeys howl, through miasmal and mysterious swamps and down into a desert of red rock, blue mesas, domes and pinnacles and grottos of endless stone, and down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm where bars of sunlight blaze on profiled cliffs, where deer walk across the white sand beaches, where storms come and go as lightning clangs upon the high crags, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you -- beyond that next turning of the canyon walls. – Edward Abbey

  1. How did you come to work at the ASC?
My family moved to Crested Butte in 2017 and my son began participating with the ASC that winter. Seeing his joy, self-confidence, and skills development soar after a season of participating in individual lessons and community programs, our family started programming together that summer and got to know the ASC community well.

The next winter, I took over 30 hours of clinics with the goal of volunteering regularly on the slopes. Sadly, the ski gods had other plans for me. I tore my ACL in December and was relegated to the office for my volunteer time.

That injury turned out to have a silver lining: During my winter in the office, I got to know the ASC admin team well and committed to more hours that summer as an events volunteer. When the Grants Coordinator position opened in August 2019, I applied and the rest is history!

  2. What is your favorite part about working for the ASC?
Spending time with participants, learning their stories, and hearing them gush about their instructors keeps me motivated to do my best to help ensure the ASC continues to impact lives for years to come. I love seeing new participants make the same connections to the ASC community that our family made when we moved here, because I know that it’s the start of life-long bond that will only continue to grow.

  3. What’s a fun fact about you?
I’ve spent close to a year of my life in the backcountry of Alaska, as a NOLS instructor and on mountaineering trips with my husband and good friends. Matt and I summited Denali together back in 2004!
